James R. “Bob” McNear

James R. “Bob” McNear, 84, of Sellersburg, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born on April 29, 1934 in Lebanon, Kentucky, the son of the late Lee Turner McNear and Elizabeth (Bird) McNear. Bob was a retired meat cutter for the old Southern Star Packing House in Louisville, Kentucky, where he worked for 42 years. He was a former member of the Sellersburg Moose Lodge and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Erma Elaine McNear; a son, Carlton Mitchell Cook; a daughter, Frances Elaine Thomas; six brothers, Earl, Leonard, Albert, Ivan, Charles and William McNear and two sisters, Louise Curtsinger and Viola Miller. Survivors include two sons, Richard Cook and his wife Janie of Mt. Washington, Kentucky and Jim McNear and his wife Cindy of Floyds Knobs, Indiana; four daughters, Ricky Jane Kidwell and Kay Coots both of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, Diana Owens and her husband Charlie of Louisville, Kentucky and Barb Atkinson of Salem, Indiana; a sister, Helen J. Walker of Scottsburg, Indiana; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Funeral Service: 11:00 am Friday, December 28, 2018 at Collins Funeral Home with Matt Craig officiating. Visitation: 4 to 8 pm Thursday and after 9 am Friday at Collins Funeral Home. Interment will be in Scottsburg Cemetery.
