Mildred Walker Richey, 97, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018 at the Kentuckiana Medical Center in Clarksville, Indiana. She was born on December 23, 1920 in Salem, Indiana, the daughter of the late Willis Walker and Hazel (Ashabrauner) Walker. Mildred was a retired teller for the old Scott County State Bank in Scottsburg, IN for nearly 40 years. She was a member of the Scottsburg United Methodist Church in Scottsburg, Indiana and a lifetime member of the Psi Iota Psi Sorority. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Woodrow Richey on Dec. 4, 1987; two brothers, Elmo and Raymond Walker and a sister, Marjorie Lucas. Survivors include a son, Jerry A. Richey of Crawfordsville, Indiana; a daughter, Jeanne Stein and husband Jim of Bay Port, Michigan; a sister, Vera Studebaker of Logansport, Indiana; three grandsons,: Jared Stein and Jen of Boise, Idaho, James Richey Stein and wife Staci of Linden, Michigan and Jeff Stein and wife Jami of Rochester Hills, Michigan and four great grandchildren, James W., Luke, Madeline and Elijah. Interment will me in Scottsburg Cemetery. In Lieu of Flowers the family requests donations to Scottsburg United Methodist Church or the donor’s choice c/o Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana.
